Billy Wilkinson

Elon-Billy James Wilkinson,89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at ARMC after declining health of four years. He was a native of Mebane and the son of the late Robert G. Wilkinson, Sr. and Erma Kirk Wilkinson.
Billy retired from AT&T with 38 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Billy served 4 years in the US Coast Guard. He was a member of Powerline Church of the Nazarene. God, family and his church were the most important aspects of his life. He was a blessing to his family and he touched many people during his lifetime. Billy was an avid fisherman and sportsman.
Survivors include his wife of 47years, "Sweetthang" Rachel Payne Wilkinson of the home; children, James "Tim" Wilkinson of Burlington, Tina W. Manuel and husband, Jeff of Graham, Doug Wilkinson and wife, Donna of Burlington, Donna W. Carver and husband, Ricky of Mebane, Karen W. Cantrell and husband, Kenneth of Elon and Mitchell Wilkinson of Burlington; grandchildren, David Blane (Whitney) Carroll, Ashley Cantrell (Wade) Huffman, Audrey (Josh) Cantrell, Jason (Summer) Carver, Kristen Carver (Matt) Lovette, Shane Mize, Amber Mize, Jordan (Anna) Wilkinson and Matthew Wilkinson; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary E. Wilkinson Dowdy of Oakland, TN and Rose Wilkinson of Greensboro.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 3:00PM at Powerline church of the Nazarene by Pastors, Rev. Jerry Gardener, Dr. Tim Taylor and Rev. Darryl Kroeze. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45PM prior to the services on Sunday at the church. There will be a private burial for the family on Monday.
