Elon - Billy Burke Garrison, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home. A native of Alamance County, he was born April 22, 1926 to the late Lindsay Sidney and Carrie Murray Garrison and was the husband of 37 years to Mildred Matkins Garrison of the home.
Billy was a longtime member of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon. He most recently attended Shiloh United Methodist Church for 37 years where he was a member of the Methodist Men. Billy retired from AMP Incorporated after 25 years of service. He was an avid Duke fan and enjoyed gardening and mowing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; daughters, Linda Bolick (Wayne), Judy Herring (Dannie), and Kathy Stowe (Frank); son, Glenn Wayne Garrison (Lynn); step-daughter, Chelsea Troxler Wiles (Nathan); step-sons, Robert Lee Troxler, Jr. (Cindy), Ronald Craig Troxler (Joan) and Hunter John Troxler (Tammy); ten grandchildren, Jennifer Stephenson (Scott), David Garrison (Lauren Fulcher), Kevin Bolick (Belinda), Melinda McCullah (Ryan), Michael Bolick, Rodney Herring (Melanie), Rickey Herring (Tara), Kelly Meddock (Ryan), Jeff Whitesell (Tabitha) and Dawn Doby (Julian); 20 great grandchildren, Evan and Avery Stephenson, Haley and Giobann Garrison, Jackson Fulcher, Brooke and Landon Bolick, Luke, Lance, Lilly and Lauren McCullah, Grace Herring, Cody Coble, Connor Meddock, Ashton, Ava and Makenzie Whitesell, Autumn O'Daniel, Ryleigh Petriella and Dylan Doby; ten step-grandchildren, Grant Troxler (Samantha), Leslie Troxler, Seth Troxler, Morgan Troxler, Jordan Wiles (Gretchen), Tyler Wiles (Kelli), Hayden Wiles, Collin Troxler, Clay Troxler, Ashlyn Troxler, a step-great grandchild, Sawyer Wiles and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Lillian Squires Garrison; sisters, Mary Lea Barker, Elida Patterson, Elizabeth Coleman and Louise Sutton and brothers, Clyde Garrison, Leon Garrison, Murray Garrison and Herbert Garrison.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00pm on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory by Rev. Judson Dunlap with the burial to follow at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
