William “Billy” Lafer Catoe, Jr., 61, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Duke University Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 38 years to Rita Dee Snyder Catoe who survives.
Billy was a graduate of Strayer University and attended John Wesley Bible College. Billy retired from LabCorp after 32 years as Vice President of IT. He received the Chairman’s award 3 times and was one of fifty Stalwarts of LabCorp. He was a member of the former Peoples Memorial Christian Church where he taught Sunday School for the Agape Streams Fellowship and the Light Bearers classes. Billy was an avid UNC Tarheel fan and Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time and spending time with family and friends. Billy never met a stranger, having a contagious smile and laughter that drew people to him. He loved his Pekingese named “Halo” who was a faithful companion.
Billy is survived by his wife, Rita Dee Snyder Catoe of the home; his sisters, Denise Parks and her husband, Hersell of Emerald Isle, NC and Donna Allen and her husband, Billy of Snow Camp, NC; nephew, Jeffrey Parks and his wife, Carmen; nieces, Holly Jane Herring and her husband, Trey and Megan Leigh Branch and her husband, Daniel; great nieces, Abagail Parks and a great nephew, Archer Parks; his best friend, Ken Ferguson and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lafer Catoe, Sr. and Jane Thompson Catoe.
A service to celebrate Billy’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Peoples Church by Rev. Daryl Carr and Ed Snyder. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times the family will be at the home.
