Billy Blevins

Mr. Billy Durward Blevins, age 82, died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Billy graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering which he used in the nuclear field for his entire career. He was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1940's. Billy was a member of the Elon Community Church in Elon, NC, and an active member of the Burlington Senior Democrats. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Noreen and Ney Armstrong, his brother James A. Blevins and his two sons Michael Haley Blevins and Mark William Blevins. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Jean F. Blevins of Burlington, his daughter Vicki Goodier of Seattle, WA, his son David James Blevins and wife Kathy of Burlington, his two sisters Wanda Worrell and Charlotte Brown of New Mexico, other close family members and the lights of his life - his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held on Saturday August 13, 2011, at 3:00 PM at the Elon Community Church United Church of Christ, 271 N. Williamson Avenue, Elon, NC, by the Rev. Randy Orwig. Bill requested that all memorials be made to the UCC church 271 N. Williamson Avenue, Elon, NC, 27244.
