Billie Benolken

Billie Sutton Benolken, 80, of Elon passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at White Oak Manor after a lengthy illness. She was born in Alamance County and was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Lena Myrtle Brown Sutton. Mrs. Benolken was a long-standing member of Fairview United Methodist Church, was a registered occupational nurse and worked for both Cone Mills and Glen Raven Mills. She devoted her life to the care of patients and family and was a loving grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Stephen Frye of Chapel Hill; son, George "Tripp" Leah Benolken of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Aaron, Jeremy and Rachel Frye; siblings, Pauline Byron Gross of Elon, Gaynelle Luther McCollum of Elon, Marjorie "Margie" Foster of San Antonio, TX, Shelvia Jean Russell of Graham, John Daniel Ann Sutton of Elon and Polly Richard Wilson of Elon and sister-in-law, Ruby Sutton of Elon. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Harold Sutton. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Fairview United Methodist Church by Rev. Nathan Wittman with interment to follow at Apple's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
