Beverly Way King

February 12, 1929 — January 4, 2025

Burlington

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Beverly Way King, 95, who departed this life surrounded by her loving family on January 4, 2025, at the Hospice Home. Born on February 12, 1929, in Orange County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Coy Cannady Wilson and Robena Pency Riggs Wilson.

Beverly's life was filled with love and devotion; she was the loving wife of Paul Wendell Way for 55 wonderful years until his passing in 2002, and later married William Clarence King, who preceded her in death in 2019.

After dedicating 38 years at Burlington Industries, Beverly embraced retirement while remaining active in her community. A committed member of Calvary Baptist Church, she contributed to numerous committees, including the communion service, the fifty-plus group, and greeted visitors with warmth and kindness. Together with Paul, she proudly served as chaperones for the 1963 Miss Burlington and engaged actively with the Jaycees. She found joy in crocheting beautiful afghans and preparing meals for her loved ones, but nothing brought her greater happiness than the time spent with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beverly is survived by her devoted daughters, Debbie Way Best and fiancé Roger Harris, Terry Way Benton and husband Mike, and Tina Way Wade and husband William. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Kelly Stout and husband Tony, Stephanie Hardy and husband Phil, Samantha Somers and husband Justin, Ashley Studney, Will Benton and wife Elizabeth, and Jennifer Velten and husband Tanner. Her spirit will live on in her great-grandchildren: Hailey Stout, Hannah Stout, Tanner Stout, Katelyn Clark, Natalie Clark, Caroline Somers, Laura Somers, Julia Somers, Kate Somers, Addison Studney, Noah Benton, and Everly Benton. Beverly also had several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Paul Way and Clarence King, and her two brothers, Coy Wilson and Jack Wilson.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and staff at Hospice for the tender care they provided to Beverly and their family during her illness.

Beverly's loving spirit and joyful presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and family will forever remain in our hearts.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Beverly will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ernest Beck with the burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:45pm Tuesday prior to the service.
