Beulah Shepherd

Whitsett-Beulah Burgess Shepherd, 81 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Hospice Home. She was the wife of the late Wayne David Shepherd, Sr. and the daughter of the late Ray Kennedy and Mary Gantt Burgess.
Beulah retired after 30 years as a teachers' assistant with the Alamance Burlington School System. Her last teaching position before retirement in 2005 was at Hillcrest Elementary School. She was a longtime member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and secretary of the Women of the Church. Beulah was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Shepherd Pugh and Ron Bettis of Sophia, NC; two grandchildren and a sister, Shirley Burgess Myers of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Wayne David Shepherd, Jr., parents; brothers, Robert "Bob" Burgess and Kenneth Larry Burgess.
The Shepherd family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice and her excellent caregivers, Shirley Cole and Angela McDuffie.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 4:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Ben Williams and assisted by Cynthia Ingle, CLP and Teena Burton. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her sister. There will be a private graveside service on Thursday at Alamance Memorial Park.
