BURLINGTON -- Betty Troxler Woody, 82, of Hub Mill Rd., Elon, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Burlington. She married the late Robert F. Woody in 1949 and they lived together in Altamahaw-Ossipee area of Alamance County. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2011 at Fairview United Methodist Church. A private burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home. Mrs. Woody was born to the late Joseph and Mable Squires Troxler on August 14, 1929 in the Troxler family home. She was a faithful wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to be surrounded by family and her Pomeranians. An artist, Mrs. Woody loved to paint nature scenes and animals. She worked for Western Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1988. A lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church, she faithfully served as Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir. Mrs. Woody is survived by four sons and a daughter, four daughters-in-law and one son-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Robert F. and Julie Woody, Jr. and their daughter, Emily and Eric Fields, son, Matthew and Jennie Woody and stepdaughters, Jill and Chris Fine and Jodie and Dave Hart. Dennis and Linda Woody and their daughter, Lori and Jim Bodenheimer and son, Keith and Tammy Woody. Kenneth and Patricia Woody and their daughters, Krista and Anthony Harris and Meredith and Thomas Douglas. Elaine and Doug Russell and their sons, Benjamin and Amy Russell and Jon and Randi Russell. Jeff and Deanna Woody and their daughter, Kenzie and son, Kaleb. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Robert F. Woody, III. Mrs. Woody is also survived by a sister, Mildred Gaylord and a brother, Roger Buddy Troxler. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Inez Troxler and Pauline Nicks and six brothers, Thurmond Troxler, Lloyd Red Troxler, Frank Troxler, Robert R.T. Troxler, Donald Doug Troxler, and Keith Rink Troxler.
