Betty Knight White
Betty Jean Knight White, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Ranson Ridge Assisted Living in Huntersville surrounded by her family. She was born on August 29, 1933 in Lancaster, SC to the late George Elmer Knight and Lula Deese Knight, and was the wife of 64 years to the late George David “Sonny” White who died in 2016.
Betty retired after 41 years with AT&T. She was a 1952 graduate of Walter Williams High School, a charter member of Baptist Temple of Alamance County where she was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon’s wife. Betty was devoted to her family and a life of service to others.
She is survived by her son, David L. White and wife Deana; grandchildren, Laura White, Robbie Moore and wife Sandra; great granddaughter, Bella Moore; brothers, George Elmer Knight, Jr. and Marion Sims Knight; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Kathryn Moore; son-in-law, Robert Moore, Jr.; a grandson, Aaron Blake Moore; and siblings, Oveta Riggins and Conway Knight.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Baptist Temple by Dr. Don Carter with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
