BURLINGTON- Betty Louise Hicks Watkins, 79, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Wake County, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Thomas Hicks and Louis Helen Walker Hicks and the wife of the late Harley Wade Watkins for over 61 year. Betty worked for many years before eventually retiring from the photography department at Carolina Biological. She was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church. Betty loved crafting, especially making jewelry and was an amazing cook. She also enjoyed spending time outside gardening, but what she loved doing more than anything was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her son; Timothy Watkins and wife, Valerie, daughter; Marsha Hall and husband, Rodney, grandchildren; Nicki Brown, Tiffany Garrison, Billy Watkins, jr., Stephanie Neiman, Travis Hall, Derek Hall, Tyler Watkins, Lindsay Watkins, Kayla Watkins and Ceira Watkins and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Wade Watkins, son; Billy Waldo Watkins, great grandson; Dakota Hall, parents; William and Louis Hicks and a brother; Thomas “Tommy” Alton Hicks.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the mausoleum chapel at Alamance Memorial Park, by Dr. Freddie Powell, with the committal to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
