Betty Riggsbee

Burlington Betty Engelhart L. Riggsbee, 88, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Hospice Home after two years of declining health. She was born in St. Petersburg, FL to the late L.E. Engelhart and the late Mary Wright Engelhart and was the wife of 57 years to Clarence Riggsbee who survives. Betty was a former employee with Ledbetter Pickard Stationary and Huggins Hardware in Chapel Hill. She was a volunteer for over 25 years with Allied Churches, an avid Tar Heel Basketball Fan and was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Barbara Lewis Lilienthal of Burlington; granddaughters, Beth L. McGuire and husband Todd, Amanda L. Cary and fianc, David Shoop all of Burlington; great grandson, Dylan McGuire; great granddaughters, Abbie Cary and Lilly Cary; sister-in-law, Ann Engelhart of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack Engelhart. The memorial service will be held 4:00pm Monday, August 12, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Sue Perry. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at Beth and Todd McGuire's home, 917 Everett Street, Burlington, NC 27215.
