Gibsonville Betty Jean Rippy Martin, .86, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 22, 2015 at Twin Lakes Community surrounded by her family. A native of Alamance County, she was born April 8, 1929 to the late Joseph Michael and Myrtle Ella Cobb Rippy and was the wife of over 25 year to the late Millard Frazier Martin. Betty was a lifelong member of Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonville. She worked with Meals on Wheels and volunteered for the NC Board of Elections. Most of her enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved deeply. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Terry Martin and husband Stephen of Gibsonville, Sherry Ackman and husband Todd of Cary; sons, Wayne Floyd and wife Mary Jo of Garner, Michael Floyd and wife Debra of Reidsville, Paul Martin and wife Carolyn of Elon; grandchildren, Millicent Martin, Michelle Wilson, Mary Catherine Nicolay, Taylor Floyd, Ashley Hale, Nicole Ackman, Hannah Ackman; Jordan Wilson, Carter Wilson, Brooklyn Hale and a brother, Dr. W.D. Rippy and wife Helen of Wilmington. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, granddaughter, Tasha Winfree and her uncle who raised her, Robert Lingle Cobb. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Sharon Lutheran Church by The Rev. W. Ralph Heller, Jr., D. Min. STS with the burial to follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church, 406 Alamance St., Gibsonville, NC 27249
