Burlington – Betty Lou Beale Cooke, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Authoracare Collective Hospice House in Burlington. She was born in Hertford County on June 30, 1942 to the late Willis and Maizie Conwell Beale and was the wife of 61 years to the late John Malcolm Cooke who died in March of this year.
Betty’s favorite place was in her yard planting flowers or at the beach with her beloved husband, John. She was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. Betty worked at Kernodle Clinic for 33 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Candace Butterworth and husband Blake, Julie Wolfe and husband Larry Wolfe, Jr.; grandchildren, Jacob Wolfe, Kaegan Butterworth and August Butterworth; sisters, Ann Joyner and husband, Alvin of Ahoskie and Jean Burgess and husband, Lloyd of Ahoskie. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Garry Baldwin. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
