Betty Jo Hiott Huffines, 94, of Burlington passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Coble Creek Healthcare at Twin Lakes Community. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Dena Smoke Hiott. Betty Jo was married for 50 years to the late Frank Harold Huffines.
Betty Jo was full of love and compassion for people and had strong faith. She was a graduate of NC Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and worked in our local hospitals for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Community Church where she enjoyed the fellowship of the Women’s Circle. She also served as a member of the Burlington Women’s Club. Betty Jo was an avid bridge player and played with the same group of wonderful ladies for over 40 years. Her most cherished times were the times spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her 3 children; Rusty Huffines (Cynthia), Laura Brannock (James) and Wesley Huffines, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters; Patsy Ballinger and Mary Lee Busby.
A service to celebrate Betty Jo’s life will be held at May-Foley Chapel at Coble Creek Health Care and Rehabilitation building at Twin Lakes Community of Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 2:00PM. The family will receive friends following the service.
