Burlington- Betty Bryant Gerringer, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Liberty Commons. She was a native of Alamance County and the daughter of the late Claude Edward Bryant, Sr. and Mary Evans Bryant. She was the wife of 64 years to the late George Walter Gerringer.
Betty retired from Carolina Biological. She was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher for the primary girls and boys. She was a member of the choir and helped with the church day care for several years. Betty always had bubble gum with her at church for children. She played softball for Holt Hosiery in her younger years. Betty was an avid UNC Tarheel basketball fan. She enjoyed cooking fried chicken, making biscuits and strawberry shortcake for her family on Sundays and various family gatherings. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Betty is survived by her sons, Don Gerringer and wife, Tammy of Burlington, Simon Gerringer and wife, Cheryl of Snow Camp; her daughter, Susan Randolph and husband, Randy of McLeansville; grandchildren, Craig (Liv) Gerringer, Amanda (Luke) Moffett, Bobby (Amanda) Gerringer, Brandon Gerringer and Fianceé Karen and Matt Randolph; great grandchildren, Lila, Jack and Logan Gerringer; a brother, Herbert Vance Bryant and a sister-in-law, Karen Bryant. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; son, Gary Dean Gerringer, daughter, Robin Denise Marley; sisters, Frances Morgan and Hallie Hall; brothers, Arnold Moe Bryant, William Harvey Bryant, Claude “Tuni” Bryant, Jr. Fred Franklin Bryant, Allen Bryant, Robert Lee Bryant and Howard Bryant.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff with Liberty Commons and Liberty Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Betty over the years.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Walter Jones with interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service and other times at the home of Don Gerringer.
