Graham - Betty Ann Brooks Farrell, 85, joined her Lord December 1, 2023 after a years-long battle with cancer. A graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Don Farrell.
Originally from Burlington, NC, Betty lived in New Bern, NC, and Calabash, NC, before returning to the Burlington area. She was one of 10 children who grew up farming and then worked in the mill industry and bookkeeping. Betty was happiest when socializing with her many friends and family members. She never met anyone she couldn’t strike up a conversation with, and kept up her sweet disposition until the end. Betty loved traveling, especially her time at the beach, and was always ready to go somewhere and enjoy what she found there.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Karen Farrell; son-in-law, Ahmed Rami; granddaughter, Rayyan Rami of Alexandria, VA; sisters, Pat Thomas (Gene) of Graham, NC; Linda Bampton (Cliff) of Pittsboro, NC; and Christine Cobb of Snow Camp, NC; and brother, Wayne Brooks (Arlene) of Greensboro, NC, as well as her sister-in-law, Jerrie Carver (Steve) of Graham, NC. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John Will and Carmen Brooks; sisters, Gladys Davis, Irene Bohannon, and Ellla Rae Cowan; and brothers, Bill Brooks and JW Brooks.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Holly Lux-Sullivan. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Skywatch Bird Rescue in Castle Hayne, or the American Cancer Society.
