Betty Church

Betty Terrell Church, age 83 of Burlington passed away on Saturday, November 30 at home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Alamance County on November 12, 1930 to the late Brodie and Rose Terrell. Growing up in a large family provided constant entertainment and instilled Betty with a love for life and for people. She never met a stranger as she and Jack always opened their home and their hearts to bring friends and family together. No one ever left her house hungry, and she became known as "Mama Betty" to those who came from far and near. She was member of St. Mark's Church and active in Circle #4. Over the years she shared and enjoyed many adventures with her beloved May Lee Club. She loved simply relaxing whether it be at the beach, lake, or front lawn. Betty's greatest legacy was her love of family. She was a devoted wife, friend, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She delighted in the achievements of her children and grandchildren. She was the kind of person the world needs lots more of! She will be greatly missed. Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond "Jack" Church, two daughters, Jackie Peeler David and Kathy Braxton; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Church; two sons, Kenny Church and Ronnie Church Mitzi; four sisters, Audrey McIver, Clara Gibson, Judy Winstead, and Brenda Keck Jack; brother, Carlton Terrell Gwen; eleven grandchildren, David, Jr., Nick, Katie Rose, Breanna, Maria, Hannah, Jacob, Matt, Adam, Jordan and Brian and two great grandchildren. Kaidence Lynn and Brycen. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her oldest son, Ray Church, grandson, Ryan Church, sister Mary Overman and brother, Buddy Terrell. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ben Bishop with burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
