Burlington Betty Lou Roney Cheek, 77, of 1725 Deep Creek Church Rd. passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Hospice Home after a year long illness. She was born in Alamance County to the late Clyde Ruffin and Nina Faulkner Roney and was married to Harold Cheek who survives. She worked for Kayser-Roth for over 20 years and later retired from Harold Cheek Electric Company. Betty was a member of Lakeview Community Church and the Alamance County Line Dancers. She loved outdoor activities like camping, swimming and water skiing. Mrs. Cheek was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her husband, Harold Cheek of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jerry Murray of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandson, Clancy Murray and his wife Natasha of Liberty; great grandchildren, Presley and Jackson Murray; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Kernodle, Doris and Wayne Perry, Shelby Aldridge, Nancy and Herb Whitfield, Ann and James Boone and Becki and Harold Jarvis, all of Burlington and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Alene Christopher, brothers, James Roney and Herbert Roney; half-sisters, Sarah Pickard and Pauline Caudle and half-brothers, Curtis, Paul, Ralph and Chesley Roney. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reid Dickens with interment to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening and other times at the home.
