Betty Smith

Burlington -Betty Bray Smith, 72 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at ARMC.  She was born in Person County and was the wife of 54 years to Ronnie W. Smith who survives.

Betty retired from Holt Manufacturing as secretary to the president. She was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and had been attending Grove Park Baptist Church in recent years. She enjoyed going to the beach, dinning out, reading and knitting. She was an avid Duke fan along with her husband and family. She devoted herself to her grandchildren who were the center of her life. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie W. Smith of the home; son, Brent Smith and wife, Melinda of Graham; grandchildren, Aydan and Kristen Smith and her sisters, Barbara White of Burlington and Marlyn Boatwright of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Whitt Bray Horne and step dad, Ed Horne and a brother, Bill Bray.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at ARMC and UNC Chapel Hill Hospital for their kind and compassionate care for Betty during her illness.

A service to celebrate her life will be on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 3:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Marc Sanders. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45pm prior to the service. The burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
