Betty Blalock

Betty Lou Bowman Blalock, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on October 30, 1932 in Stokes County to the late William Austin Bowman and Rebecca Burrow Bowman, and was married for 57 years to the late Roy Lee Blalock, Jr. who died in 2014.

Betty formerly worked at Sellar's Department Store and SCI Systems. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Walters and husband, Tom of Alexandria, VA; a son, Steve Blalock and wife, Jan of Winston Salem; grandchildren, Dr. Rebekah Wilson, Will Wilson, Jessica Blalock and Jonathon Blalock; son-in-law, Bill Wilson; sisters, Cecile Clifford and Nelle Adams; brother, Wayne Bowman and wife, Carolyn; sisters-in-law, Rachel Bowman and Polly Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter, Carolyn Wilson and brothers, Elbert and Ozzie Bowman.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, April 7, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
