Betty Virginia Overman Berry

Betty Virginia Overman Berry, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Compass Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after several years of failing health. She was born on December 30, 1931 in Alamance County to the late Dewey Lee Overman, Sr. and Pearl Mae Walker Overman, and she was the wife to the late Charles Ernest Berry who died in 2007.

 Betty in her earlier years worked at Copeland Fabrics and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, rocking on her front porch, fishing, going to the beach and attended New Hope Baptist Church when she was able. Betty and Charles were avid Atlanta Braves fans and enjoyed watching all the games. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.

 Survivors include her daughters, Angela Mae Berry and Amanda Isley and fiancé Courtney Goins; her grandchildren, Jordan Paige Lough and husband Tristan, Ava McKinley Grace Boyd, Gabriel Landon Charles Boyd and Cooper Goins; a great grandson, Camden Wyatt Lough; brother-in-law, Donald Coe and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Peggy Coe and her brothers, Billy Eugene Overman and Dewey Lee Overman, Jr.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at Springview Assisted Living (N. Mebane St.) for all the loving care and compassion that was giving to Betty during her stay there and to Compass Healthcare.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Betty will be held at 2:00pm Friday, December 20, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Josh House with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the granddaughter, Paige’s residence.
