Burlington Betsy Smith Albright died February 10, 2007, at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. She was born April 6, 1926, in Burlington. Betsy is preceded in death by her father Terry Smith, mother Nettie Smith, stepmother Maggie Smith, and brothers Allen Smith, J.C. Smith, and Mack Ross. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred Albright of Twin Lakes Community in Burlington; her daughters Jane Albright of Raleigh, Suzanne Knight of Raleigh, and Tempy Albright of Winston-Salem; her sons-in-law, Vance Knight of Raleigh and Tripp Guthrie of Winston-Salem; her brothers Ross Smith, Luke Smith, Dan Smith and Pete Smith, all of Burlington; and her sisters Margaret Todd of Yadkinville and Mary Jane Pettigrew of Burlington. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Matthew Welch of New York City and Elizabeth Welch of Austin, Texas. Betsy taught school for twenty-five years, three in Guilford County and twenty-two at Randleman Elementary in Randleman, NC. She was an excellent teacher. She was very active in her church, First United Methodist Church in Randleman, serving on the Administrative Board, teaching the high school girls class, and acting as Youth Director. Since moving to Twin Lakes, she has been a loyal member of First United Methodist Church in Elon. She was active in her community, serving as president of the Randleman Womens Club and doing Meals on Wheels. Her first love was her family; she excelled as wife, mother and grandmother. Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church of Elon on Monday, February 12th from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm. The funeral will be on Tuesday, February 13th at 11:00 at the church.
