Bessie Rebecca "Tom" Blanchard Moore, age 93, formerly of Colonial Drive went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2010 at Liberty Commons. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Glynden Therwell Moore. "Tom" retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery after many years. She was a member of St. Mark's Church and the Senior Citizens Sunday School Class. She was a former member of Bethlehem Christian Church and West Burlington United Methodist Church. "Tom" was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include her daughters, Doris Moore Smith and Glynda Moore Sorrell both of Burlington; grandchildren, Shannon Mackintosh, April Jim Briggs, Rusty Melinda Smith, Laura Smith, Heather Sorrell and Chad Christine Sorrell; great grandchildren, Robert Mackintosh, Chase Briggs, Ally Briggs, Kayla Smith, Nicholas Smith, Cameron Sorrell and Maya Sorrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Edward Clarence Blanchard, Sr. and Frankie Patterson Blanchard; son-in-law, Robert Smith; brothers, Clarence, Howard, Chester and Kenneth Blanchard; sisters, Mabel Barber, Daisy Alexander and Lillian Burke. A special thanks to her extended family of caregivers, Margo Roberts, Mary Beasley, Debbie Gerringer, Anita Taylor, Leola Gaines and Carlene Shephard and staff of Liberty Commons. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Church by Rev. Ben Bishop and the burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. in the church parlor prior to the service on Monday and other times at Doris Smith's home, 3003 Truitt Dr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Activities Center of Liberty Commons, 791 Boone Station Dr. Burlington, NC 27215 or the Robert Smith Nursery Fund of St. Mark's Church, 1230 St. Mark's Church Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
