The most wonderful Mother and Grandmama in the world, Bessie Mae Saunders Lassiter, 82 of 3778 Mine Creek Road, Burlington, was called to Heaven by her Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2016, surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Our Grandmama was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by each of us. If you asked her, she had 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren plus their spouses that were the greatest, most beautiful, kind and loving children in this world. Her family was her life. Her love shined in us and all who were around her. Although her health was failing for several years she never changed her strong, joyful, joking self. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She never gave up her fight.
She was funny and loved to laugh and tell jokes or anything that would get a laugh or smile out of anyone that she was around. She never met a stranger.
She was born in Burlington to the late Leonard and Mary Danieley Saunders and lived in the same community with her precious, devoted husband, Currie Lee Lassiter for 65 years.
She is survived by her loving children Brenda (David) Wynne and Michael (Rhonda) Lassiter. Her precious grandchildren Dale (Amy) Mann, Mitch (Jennifer) Mann and Mary Catherine (Justin) Wicker. And the jewels of her life, her great grand children, Austin (Caitlin) Mann, McKayla Mann, Maddux Mann, Londyn Mann, Ava Wicker, Charlotte Wicker. Her special loving friends, Chris Roy, Susan Clayton, Connie Smith, SherriAube Anderson and devoted sister-in-law, Barbara Saunders. Her brother Bobby (Glenda) Saunders. Sisters Barbara (Sam) Thompson, Peggy Pickard, Maggie (Jr.) Satterfield, Sara (Aubrey) Underwood and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter, Synthia Diane Lassiter. Her brothers, Roy Saunders and Leonard Saunders, Jr. Her sisters Annie C (Carl) Woody, Louise (Jim) Baker,

We are heart broken and our lives will never be the same but our Mom and Grandmama would want us to be strong, to keep the bond of love that she gave us and move forward with love and compassion for others. We love you so much Mama (Grandmama) and we will never ever forget the loving person that you were. Rest easy and we will see you one special day.
