Bessie Couch Blair, age 96, of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at White Oak Manor after several months of failing health.

Born in Perry County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Willie Couch and the late Juda Cornett Couch and was married for over 34 years to David Blair, who passed in 1984.  She was employed with the post office in Ermine, KY for many years and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Gibsonville.  As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses she served as a volunteer in the full time ministry for 33 years, sharing her hope with others.  Bessie led a full and active life and she loved being with her family and friends.

Mrs. Blair is survived by her four children, Don Blair and wife, Lois, of Gibsonville, Sandra Spangler of Lawrenceburg, KY, Sharon Hinson and husband, James, of Camden, SC and Venia Whitaker and husband, Randall, of Salisbury, NC; step daughter, Shelby Jean Taylor of KY and step son, Johnny Blair of IN; seventeen grandchildren, Candice, Scott and Jacqueline Whitaker, Stephen Rose, Ginger King, Casey Murray, Crystal Harris, Madison Phillips, Jordon Blair, Rhonda, Ricky, Adrian and Twana Blair, Melinda and Randy Couch and Sherry and Ronnie Taylor; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Hilton of KY and Vernie Kirkpatrick of TN; and two brothers, Verlon Couch and Junior Couch, both of OH.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Howard Couch; a grandson, David Lee Blair; and three brothers, Johnny Couch, Kenny Couch and Kelly Couch.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Gibsonville by Mr. Jason McMurray.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Gibsonville, 3401 Suits Rd., Gibsonville, NC 27249.
