Mrs. Bertha Dean Rimmer Bruner, age 74, of 819 Isley Rd., died Saturday, April 5, 2012 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late David Thomas Rimmer and the late Ruby Fox Rimmer and was married to the late John Henry Bruner, who died in 1987. Bertha retired from AT&T with over 39 years service and was formerly involved in the Pioneers Club for children with disabilities. She was an active part of her community and was loved and respected by her family and friends. Mrs. Bruner is survived by her daughter, Carol Dean Bruner of Haw River; her son, Johnny Bruner and his wife, Debbie, of Burlington; a granddaughter, Jessica Hackney of Mebane; two step grandchildren, Christy Apple and Michelle Mitchell; five step great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Garrison-Bruce of Myrtle Beach, SC; and two brothers Raymond Rimmer and Ricky Rimmer, both of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, Rainey Rimmer. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bruce Church. Interment will follow at McCray Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the son's residence, 2745 Sandy Cross Rd., Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
