Berta Stainback

Burlington, NC Berta Frances Smith Stainback, age 94, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was a native of Caswell County and the wife of 63 years to Herbert M. Stainback who survives. Berta was employed with J. Spencer Love for several years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Elon and was a Primary President for 5 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Morrison Stainback of the home; daughter, Ann Stainback Perry of Boone; son, Joseph Stainback of Snow Camp; grandchildren and spouses, Jonathan Perry and his wife, Beverly of Boone, April Pennington and her husband, Jeremy of Mountain City, Tennessee and Brian Perry of Boone; great grandchildren, Heather Perry and Amber Perry both of Boone, Lily Pennington of Mountain City, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Lawrence Stainback; parents, William Thomas and Mary Angeline Oakley Smith and her brothers, John Alvis Smith, James Herbert Smith and David Austin Smith; her sisters, Beatrice Virginia Smith and Elizabeth Lidell Smith. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Elon by Bishop Keith Stanley and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
