Bernice Zimmerman

Bernice Love "Bernie" Zimmerman 76, of 120 Oliver Ln. passed away Saturday, November 07, 2009 at Alamance Health Care. Mr. Zimmerman was born November 18, 1932 in Person County to the late Jessie L. and Ursula C. Zimmerman. He was the husband of the late Frances Shotwell Zimmerman who preceded him in April of this year. Bernie retired after 30 years of service with Alamance County Hospital and worked five years part- time for Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Lakeview Community Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survivors include his daughter, Robin Boone and her husband Randy of Burlington; a son, Mark Wayne Zimmerman of Burlington; four grandchildren, Scott Boone, Jamie Boone, Mason Zimmerman, and Marla Zimmerman. four sisters, Betty Overby of Bryan, TX; Dorothy Bradsher of Burlington, Delayne Bowes of Alton, VA; Faye Gainey of South Boston, VA; six brothers, Buddy Zimmerman, James Zimmerman both of Roxboro, Owen Zimmerman of Hurdle Mills, Pete Zimmerman of Semora, Henry Zimmerman of Graham, and Jerry Zimmerman of Oxford. Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a brother, Bobby Zimmerman. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Lakeview Community Church by the Rev. Reid Dickens. Interment will follow at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery in Semora, NC. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Memorials can be made to Lakeview Community Church Building Fund, 101 Boone Rd.
