Bennie Sue Doggett Farmer, 79, of Burlington died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Twin Lakes Health Care Center. She was born in Charlotte to the late Felix Gladstone and Allene Emily Loy Doggett and was married to the late Rev. Ben Davis Farmer, Jr. She attended Mary Washington College and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a member of Delta Phi Alpha and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in German. Sue retired from Lucent Technologies after 34 years and was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Cordero Oertel and her husband Geoffrey Kenneth Oertel of Elon; grandchildren, Heather Renee Valdez and her husband Jason of Graham, Stephen Kyle O'Shields of Mebane; sister, Sarah Doggett Folckomer of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Lois Ann Farmer of Burlington, Ilene Farmer of South Dakota and a brother-in-law, Robert Farmer of South Dakota. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes by Father Mark Menees with entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will have a visitation with reception from 6-8 Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her daughter's residence, 1014 Mill Pointe Way, Elon.
