Benjamin Davis

Haw River Benjamin "Benny" Lewis Davis, 69 passed away Tuesday, July 08, 2008 at the Hospice Home. Mr. Davis was born July 24, 1938 in Alamance County to the late Jeff and Ola Jones Davis. He was a retired truck driver with Overnight Transportation Co. Benny was a popular Dirt Track Race Car Driver at Ace, 311 Speedway and numerous other local tracks for many years. Survivors include his wife, Sandi Jones Davis of the home; a daughter, Cindy Davis Williams and her husband, Edward of McLeansville; two grandchildren, Whitney Williams and Hayley Williams; a sister, Peggy Ard of Rockingham; a brother, Wallace Davis of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews who cared for him during his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Richard Nunn. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Judy King 2515 S. Jim Minor Rd. Mebane, NC.
