Benjamin Cecil Beckom, 80, passed away Saturday June 10, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical
Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Ernest Tinnen and Bertha Ross Beckom and
husband of the late Jane Thompson Beckom.
Ben was a machinist and farmer before being employed with Duke Power Co. until his retirement and later also worked part time for Sears for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon, Duke Power Retirees and enjoyed spending times at the Senior Center. Ben enjoyed farming, fishing, baseball and was an avid UNC Tarheels fan.
Survivors include his sons, Todd Beckom of Elon and Rodney Beckom and wife, Marlee, of Burlington; grandchildren, Benjamin Gettis Beckom, Dess Beckom, Lillee Hope Beckom and Chandler Beckom; a sister, Frances Kellam of Elon; brothers in law, Vernon Andrews and Alton Durham; and his loving brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews all with the Thompson family. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; brothers, Ross Beckom and Curtis Beckom; and sisters, Irene Andrews and Mary Ruth Durham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at First United Methodist Church by Rev. Keith Sexton, pastor. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Beckom will remain at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory until being taken to the church for services. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening and at other times at the home of Rodney and Marlee Beckom, 3105 Truitt Dr., Burlington, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Elon, 1630 Westbrook Ave, Elon, NC 27244.
