Belmer Ernest Groves, 82, of 1214 Williamson St., died Friday, October 28, 2005 at the V. A. Hospital after a critical illness of one week. Mr. Groves is a native of Masontown, W. VA and was the son of the late Rolly Belvin Groves and the late Edna Mae Pyles Groves and was married for 63 years to Mrs. Hellen C. Fitch Groves, who survives. Mr. Groves was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served under General Patton in WWII and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from Western-Electric after 32 years of service. He was a member of Burlington Assembly of God and served as a deacon in the church. He loved working with wood. Mr. Groves is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Edna Lou Culler and her husband, Wayne, of Haw River; two sons, Belmer Eugene Groves and his wife, Dorothy, of Lady Lake, FL and Harold C. Groves and his wife, Vonda, of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Patricia Groves, Rolly Groves, Michael Gregory, Chris Gregory, and Timothy Gregory; and six great grandchildren, Victoria Ortiz, Autumn Ortiz, Cody Groves, Makayla Gregory, Braydon Gregory, and Jenny Bailey. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 30, 2005 at Burlington Assembly of God by Pastor Howard Thompson. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Burlington Assembly of God, 821 Tucker St., Burlington, NC 27215. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@lowefuneralhome.com
