Basil Nathan Haithcock, 90, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family after several months of failing health.
He was born July 26, 1928 in Orange County to the late Eugene Haithcock and the late Lillie Gattis Haithcock and was married for over seventy years to Edna Tickle Haithcock who passed away earlier this year. Basil retired from Engineer Plastics and was a member of Gospel Roads Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his daughter, Vickie Wood and friend, Doug Harris; grandson, David Wood, Jr. and friend, Penny Fuller; great grandchildren, Justin Eastwood, Breanna Wood, Jacob Wood and Nathan Wood; and a brother, Richard Haithcock of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, Banks Haithcock; a half -sister, Addie Boles; and a half -brother, Harvey Riley.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 19, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jerry Stanley. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at the residence.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Gutierrez for his compassionate care of Mr. Haithcock during his illness.
