Bartel Frauendorfer

Bartel "Bart" Frauendorfer, 83, was reunited with those loved ones gone before him on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. He passed away at his home with his family close by. Bart was born in Wake County on August 16, 1931. He was the son of the late August and Margarette Schrader Frauendorfer. He was married for over 53 years to the love of his life, Frances Marie Widenhouse Frauendorfer, who passed away in 2012. Bart grew up on a farm in Raleigh, North Carolina, and after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Bart attended Campbell College, Atlantic Christian College, and eventually earned a master's degree in Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served Alamance County as a psychiatric social worker for over 30 years. Bart and Frances made the promise of a lifetime on his birthday in 1959. They had three children, two daughters and a son. Their door and hearts were always open to those in need. To those who loved him, he was "Daddy", "Grandaddy", or "Mr. Bart", known for his dry sense of humor, his love for all living things and the outdoors, his impeccable dancing skills, and his gentle soul. He was a hard-working man who was always willing to lend a hand. Those he leaves behind will miss him tremendously. Survivors include two daughters, Janice F. Sprow and her husband, Jim, of Louisville, KY and Maggie F. Moore of Burlington; a son, Erick Frauendorfer and his wife, Melissa, of Farmington, Utah; honorary daughter, Linda Bennett and her husband, Larry, of Lugoff, South Carolina; grandchildren, Misty Irwin, Scott Roberts, Dani Moore and Amber Moore; and a loving caregiver, Rhonda Franklin. Bart was preceded in death by his wife and parents. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Alice Jernigan and the Hospice nurses and aides who were by his side until the end. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to any of the following organizations: Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC, 27215, www.hospiceac.org; Alzheimer's Association 225 N.
