BURLINGTON- Barry Lynn Turney, age 55, of Burlington passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Monday, March 14, 2022 after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Troy H. Turney and Cornelia Guthrie Turney, who survive. Barry graduated from Walter M. Williams High School in 1985 and attended North Carolina State University. He was employed for over 26 years with Burlington Lincoln-Mercury and Burlington Honda where he was the service manager before leaving in 2017. Barry was a motorsports enthusiast and loved automobile and motorcycle racing, especially NASCAR, NHRA and MotoGP. He was an avid NCSU Wolfpack and Dallas Cowboys fan and also enjoyed playing golf and other various outdoor pursuits. “BLT” had an infectious laugh and strived to enjoy life to the fullest. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
Barry is survived by his parents; four siblings, Donna Moricle and her husband, Jimmy, Tammy Page and her husband, Kenny, Greg W. Turney and Craig D. Turney; two nephews, James Moricle and his wife, Allison, Trea Turney and companion, Jessica; his niece, Jordan A. Page; two great nephews, Trace Moricle and Preston Moricle; an aunt, Janet Troxler and husband, Earl; and numerous cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by an uncle, George Guthrie.
A gathering to celebrate Barry’s life will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory with a prayer service following.
