Graham – Mr. Barry Tony Holland, 72, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019.  A native of Alamance County, Tony was the husband of Rose Marie Holland and son of the late Emma Holland Cheek.  He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents Rueben and Fanny Holland, and his brother Allan Holland.

Tony is survived by his wife; his children, daughter Stephanie Reid (Ricky), son Jason Breda and daughter Kimberly Boone (Gary); four grandchildren, Alexandra Chappell (Clint), Justin Crawford (Kyle), Gary Boone III and John Boone; two great grandchildren, Amelia and Wesley Chappell; brother, James Cheek (Diane), sister, Sherre Hogan and other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Tony graduated from Williams High School (1967) and served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1972.  Tony was a career law enforcement officer and retired as Captain from the Burlington Police Department with 35 years of service.  After retirement he served as a deputy for the Alamance County Sheriff’s Department and then led law enforcement training at Alamance Community College.  Tony cherished his law enforcement brothers and sisters.

Tony was a master woodworker.  He spent countless hours with friends and family in his shop, sharing his talents and gift of time.  He has passed his woodworking skill to his son Jason and his grandchildren.  He loved fishing and was an avid reader.  Tony was a man of strong faith.  He and Rose are members of the Lambs Chapel in Burlington, NC.  Tony was many things to all that knew and loved him.  Most of all, he invested himself into serving others and he did that every day of his life.

A service to celebrate Tony’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Lambs Chapel-Airport Campus by Rev. Brian Biggers.  The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for scholarship to Grace Christian Academy, 3539 Alamance Road, Burlington NC 27215.
