Barbara Penn

Barbara Bannon Penn, 83, passed away peacefully at Hospice Home in Burlington on December 20th after a brief illness. She enjoyed singing, raising and showing her standard poodles, crafts, playing Bridge, and entertaining her many friends. She played many roles; wife, mother, Cub Scout Den Mother, Civil Defense coordinator, Newcomer Greeter, and many more. She was quite a character who amused everyone who touched her life with her antics. Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John Penn, who recently passed away on December 2nd, and her sister Ruth Gorham of Illinois. She is survived by her children Becky Tennes of Burlington; Pam Gaude and husband Bob of Burlington; Fletcher Penn and wife Judy of Raleigh; grandchildren Chris Tennes of Raleigh; Kelsey and Bobbie Gaude of Burlington; and sister Helen Bannon of Illinois. Family will be holding a private memorial service after Christmas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Alamance Caswell. Arrangements by Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
