Barbara Maness

Barbara Kay Williamson Maness, 73, passed away Monday March 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family after three months of failing health. She was born in Alamance County to the late William Faye Williamson and the late Helen Burch Riggs Williamson and was married to Kenneth "Gene" Maness who survives. Kay was also known as "Hurricane Kay" by her co-workers. She retired from Alamance County Central Communications after 34 years of service and was a volunteer with the Alamance County Rescue from 1979 to 1986. Survivors other than her husband, Gene include her sons and daughter-in-law, Darrel Eugene Maness, Jimmy and Nikki Maness; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jean and Myles Isbell; grandsons, Darrel Wayne Maness and Steve Leopard; great granddaughter, Taylor Leopard; sisters, Pat Williamson and Judy Oakley. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard "Dickie" Williamson. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, March 20, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Alamance County Rescue, P.O.
