Barbara Joyce

Burlington - Barbara Horner Joyce, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2017. A native of Alamance County, she was born August 5, 1937 to the late Edward Winstead and Nellie Sue Brooks Horner and was the wife of 62 years to Thomas Reid Joyce of the home.
Barbara was a member of People's Memorial Christian Church where she sang in the choir and participated in the Song and Sign Group. She was also a member of the Forever Friends Club and worked with Western Electric/AT&T for 21 years before retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas of the home; daughters, LuAnn Joyce and Cathy Joyce Mays; son, David Alan Joyce and wife Shari; grandchildren, David Tucker, Kathy Tucker, Lee Mays and wife Cady, Jessica Moody and husband Joe, Elizabeth Anderson and husband Aaron, Brandon Joyce; great grandchildren, Abigail, "Abbie" Moody, Wyatt Moody, Jackson Mays, Hunter Anderson; and two sisters, Annie Horner Michael and Faye Horner Kanapaux.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Shields with the entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30am-10:45am prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
