Barbara Graves

Mrs. Barbara Jean Boggs Graves, age 79, of Mebane, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her home surrounded by her children after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Gurney Flemming Boggs and the late Gracie Lee Christopher Boggs and was married to the late Autry M. Graves, who passed away in 1999.
Jean retired from MCR in Mebane after 19 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Mrs. Graves is survived by her four children; Steven W. Gibson of the home, Rita G. Rogers of McLeansville, Debi G. Toney and her husband, Wesley, of Mebane and Lisa G. Smith and her husband, Ricky, of Cedar Grove; four grandchildren, Donna J. Toney, Tiffany R. (Trent) Welch, Tony F. Rogers and Andrew H. Slaughter; a step granddaughter, Josie Smith; four great grandchildren, Kierstin Sechrist, Ruby Toney, Bradun Rogers and Lachlan Welch; two sisters, Betty (Rick) Martin of Gibsonville and Pat (Alan) Rhodes of Virginia; and her faithful canine, "Lil Bit". She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Mary "Sissy" Berry and Clare Lee Boggs; and three brothers, Jack Boggs, Raymond "8 Ball" Boggs and Earl Boggs.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mike Ainsworth. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, especially her nurse, Sara, for their loving and exceptional care of Jean during her illness.
