Barbara Brown

Barbara Stephanie Brown passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017, after a valiant fight with breast cancer. She was born in Escondido, California in 1957 and the family moved to Burlington in the early 60's.
Barbara attended Blessed Sacrament School, Cummings High School and was an Elon University graduate. Two of her career paths led her to work for the Alamance County Sheriff's Office and Graham Housing Authority.
Barbara will always be remembered for her work with the Alamance Conservatives. Through her efforts she helped establish the Alamance County Tea Party and the Alamance Republican Women. Barbara worked assiduously in all facets of these organizations. She was a cornerstone of the conservatives and will be greatly missed.
Barbara is survived by her mother, Gloria Brown; brothers, David Brown and Paul Brown (Mary); nephew, Mitchell Brown; aunts Maria Gomez and Bevelyn Rivera; and her beloved dog, Winston.
The Brown Family wants to thank Lorraine Ryan for being the advocate for "Team Barbara." We extend a warm and grateful thank you to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for the care given to Barbara during her last days.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1620 Hanford Rd., Graham, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 on Wednesday, January 11, one hour prior to the service at the Church. You may also visit the family on Tuesday, January 10 from 4:00-7:00 or after the service on Wednesday, January 11, at the residence of Omar and Maria Gomez, 602 Ivey Rd., Graham, NC
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament School at 515 Hillcrest Ave, Burlington, NC. Some of the contributions will be used for the purchase of a memorial tree in honor of Barbara Brown that will be planted on the school grounds.
