Barbara Alice McAdams Isley, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born in Jefferson County, PA, on October 13, 1942, and was married to the late David Gladstone Isley for 39 years.
Barbara was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she served in the Women’s Circle. Barbara met David in England when he and her father were stationed at the same Air Force base. After moving to North Carolina and marrying him in 1963, she initially found work in the restaurant industry and hosiery industry. She later moved into retail, working at Brendle’s, Service Merchandise, and she retired from Dollar Tree. She volunteered for Hospice Flea Market for many years and enjoyed working with flower arrangements and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed flower gardening and sitting on her porch listening to her wind chimes.
She is survived by her son, Frank Isley (Kenneth Bigsby) of Charlotte; daughter, Mary Isley Nicholson (Lonnie, Sr.) of Snow Camp; grandchildren, Lonnie Nicholson, Jr. (Erica), Jackie Stuart (Seth), Jeremy Paris (Heather); great-grandchildren, Hudson Nicholson, Harper Nicholson, Grayson Stuart, Ashtyn Paris, and Jayce Paris; sister, Debra Pasquerette (Scott Baker) of Los Angeles, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Gladstone Isley; parents, Ronald “Pat” Pasquerette and Ethel Mae Kennedy Pasquerette; sister, Darlene Ayer, and brother, Joseph Eugene McAdams.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by Rev. Nathan Hooks with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The family requests that all those in attendance wear masks while inside the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2719 Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice), 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
