Burlington – Audrey Simmons Hall, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, surrounded by her family.
A native of Caswell County, she was the devoted wife of 56 years to James Benjamin “Bennie” Hall, who survives. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey Hobart Simmons and Eliza Harrelson Simmons.
She retired from Scott Clinic where she served as the office manager. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother who will be missed dearly by many.
Her grandsons were the center of her world and she was thrilled when she finally got a granddaughter-in-law. Her children and grandchildren shared her passion of basketball. She could be found frequently playing many competitive rounds of horse in the backyard with them, thus building their character by not “letting” them win.
In her early years she participated in many beauty pageants. One of the highlights of her school years at Anderson High School was playing on the basketball team with many of her friends who she held close throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Union Ridge Church and she was active in the Graham Chandler Sunday school class where she served as treasurer for many years. She also served on the Golden Age Committee. She loved traveling, gardening, line dancing, playing Rook, talking, and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors other than her husband, Bennie Hall, include her son, Keith Hall and wife Tracy; daughter, Lisa Crabtree and husband Travis; grandchildren, Justin Hall and wife Hannah, Brandon Hall, Hunter Crabtree, and Ryan Crabtree; sisters, Patricia Rudd and husband Kenneth and Judy Howell and husband Mack; and brother, Ken Simmons and wife Linda. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Joe Dabbs.
There will be a viewing on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Ridge Church by Rev. Dan Ficklin with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Union Ridge Church Cemetery Fund, 115 Altamahaw Union Ridge Rd, Burlington, NC 27217.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the physicians and staff at UNC Hospitals Stroke Center for the compassionate and loving care they provided not only to Audrey but to the entire family.
