Burlington-Audrey Virginia Guthrie Estes, age 82 went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Altavista, Virginia and the wife of 60 years to Jack E. Estes who survives. Audrey retired from A T & T/Lucent Technologies after 20 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a longtime member of Andrew's Memorial Baptist Church and also a member of the Church choir. Audrey and her husband enjoyed traveling with the Mt. Hermon Senior Sunday School Class and taking cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Bahamas. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her husband Jack E. Estes of the home; sons, Michael E. Estes and wife, Phyllis of Gibsonville and Jeffrey L. Estes and his girlfriend, Jennifer Wilson both of Graham; 5 grandchildren, Chris Estes, Nick Estes and wife, Leslie, Heidi Estes and her boyfriend, James Solomon, Alicia Causey and Chandler Estes, 4 great grandchildren, Bryce Estes, Lily Hamlett, Brooklyn Mann and Nolan Causey; daughter-in-law, Pam Laws Estes of Haw River; sisters, Rachel Pelone of Burlington, Shirley Boswell and husband, Harold of Burlington and Joyce Carter and husband, Quincy A. Carter, Jr. of Burlington; many nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Margaret Burgess, Lillie Haywood, Richard and Cathy Murray, Charlotte Coppel, Carol Woodruff, Mack and Gerry Ray and Dinky Smith. She was preceded in death by her son, Tony A. Estes and parents, Frank Edward and Minnie Nichols Guthrie and her sister, Clara Mae Guthrie Ray. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Andrew's Memorial Baptist Church by Dr. Tommy Willis and Chaplain Randy Kidd and the burial will follow at Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. A special thank you to her nurses of Community Hospice along with Brenda Turner and care givers, Denise Drake, Karen Patterson, Phyllis Estes, Heidi Estes and Sandra Mayberry.
