Ashley Nicole Workman, age 30, of Birchwood Drive, Burlington passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Duke Medical Center after several weeks of failing health. She was brought into this world with physical limitations but overcame them all. She left this world, bound for heaven with a free body and soul. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Renee Shambley Workman and Danny Eugene Workman. She was a former employee of Kitchen Carolina. Ashley was an avid reader and read over 500 books in 2013. Ashley was a member of the ASPCA. She was an animal lover and gave freely to the cause. She was a graduate of Western High School, Class of 2002 and a graduate of Alamance Community College with an Associate's Degree in Business and an Associate's Degree in Business with a Concentration in Retail and Marketing. Ashley is survived by her mother of the home; her father of Burlington; two grandmothers, Georgia Shambley and Jean Workman, both of Burlington; aunts and uncles, Patricia and Melvin Massey, Ronald and Lori Shambley, Butch and Tammy Workman and Mike Workman; cousins, Kristy and Michael Machacek and son, Hunter, Chad Massey, Brittany and Rodney Evans and son, Tyler, Briana Shambley and Taylor Shambley; a best friend she considered a sister, Stacey Chester and her husband, Matthew, and sons, Avery and Bryson Ashley called "Her Boys"; special friend and neighbor, Olivia Johnson and her son, C.J. She was preceded in death by her loving grandfathers, Joe Shambley Papa and Robert Workman Pops. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 24, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Ricky Johnson.
