Arnold Wyrick, Sr.

Chapel Hill, NC Arnold Dean "Pops" Wyrick, Sr. age 71, of Crestwood Circle passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008 surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Carl Bowman Wyrick and Zelma Watson Wyrick. Dean was born on December 27, 1936, and he moved at an early age to Virginia Beach, Virginia where he grew up and graduated from Virginia Beach High School in 1955. He attended Elon College and worked at Duke and UNC Hospitals in the research departments for 20 years. He retired in 1998 after working and operating Wyrick Seafood Business for 18 years. He was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed the outdoors. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold D. Wyrick , Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Mebane, Brad Wyrick and his wife, Lois of Chapel Hill; grandsons, Logan Talbert and Ruffin Dean Wyrick and former wife, Faye P. Shope of Butner, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger sister, Scarlett Keller. The family of Dean Wyrick would like to thank the nurses and staff of the UNC Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Dean during his illness. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Frank Venable and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:15 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of the son, Arnold D.
