Arnold Smith

Gibsonville Arnold Lee Smith, 79, of Colony Rd. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Guilford County to the late William Rufus and Beulah Johnson Smith and was married for 57 years to Barbara Sartin Smith, who survives. He was a 1953 graduate of Bessemer High School and retired from Sears after 40 years of service. Mr. Smith was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church and a member of Woodmen of the World. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, restoring old tractors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of the home, daughter, Sharon Mark Robertson of Gibsonville; son, Ronald "Ronnie" Eugene Vicki Smith of Gibsonville and grandchildren, Daniel and Hannah Robertson, Adam and Abigail Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mable O'Barr and brothers, William Albert Smith and Jim Smith. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at McLeansville Baptist Church by Rev. Jack Lemons, Rev. Mark Robertson, Rev. Nila Souther and Rev. Don Wagner with interment to follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
