Archie Oakes

Archie Paul Oakes, 57 passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital. He was the husband of Sylvia Jones Oakes and was born July 16, 1955 in Person County to the late Cecil Aubrey and Beulah Persinger Oakes. Archie was employed by Honda Power Equipment. He enjoyed working and spending time with his family. He loved taking care of his grandbabies. Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter Lori Carroll and her husband Tim of Haw River, sons; Brian Paul Oakes, Sr. and his wife Caressa of Burlington, Chris Oakes and his wife Brooke of Elon, Matthew Oakes and his wife faith of Gibsonville, Alan Oakes of Burlington, a sister Frances Wrenn Leasburg, brothers; Richard Oakes and his wife Alice of Roxboro, Harvey Oakes of Leasburg, Robert Oakes and his wife Linda of Leasburg, Bill Oakes of Roxboro and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Ann Thaxton, brothers Ed Oakes and Cecil Lewis Oakes. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Hobbs. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at 5360 Patillo Church Rd., Burlington.
