Annie McCormick

Annie Mae Mabe McCormick, 91, of 5429 Oakway Lane in Snow Camp, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 15, 2008. A native of Surry County, she was born to James Arthur and Martha Frances Thomas Mabe, both deceased; and was the wife of the late Floyd Edward McCormick. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She worked at PX during World War II and then worked at Burlington Mills for 25 years. Survivors include two daughters, Shelby Steele and Shirley Brockwell; six sons, James McCormick, Donnie McCormick, Ronnie McCormick, Jerry McCormick, Gary McCormick, and Thomas McCormick; 34 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Cox, and Agnus Robbins; and one brother, Ray Mabe. She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant son, Johnny Ray McCormick; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Edward and Barbra McCormick; three brothers, James Arthur Mabe, Jr., Johnny Edward Mabe, and Howard Leon Mabe; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Starling. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Loy and Reverend Bo Taylor. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 pm prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home, and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
