Annie Kelly

Annie Anne Cole Kelly, age 84, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at her home in Moneta, Virginia, surrounded by family. Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Bill Kelly and her parents, Neill and Virginia King Cole of Sanford, NC. She worked for General Electric in Salem, Virginia for 33 years before retiring and moving to Smith Mountain Lake. Anne actively participated in her husband's WWII Navy LST Association activities, and enjoyed traveling often with him to Association events. She also participated in a senior bowling league in Roanoke, Virginia and in more recent years enjoyed playing bingo with friends. Above all else, Anne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Baker and husband Lewis of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Wanda Dougherty and husband Leo of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren, Scott Baker, Shannon Geisbert and husband Adam, Neil Dougherty and wife Melissa, and Caitlin Dougherty; sisters, Nora Shell of Burlington, NC, and Sara Brown and husband Bobby of New Bern, NC. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sanford, NC. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
